Do You Need Planning Permission for Your Porch?
Building a porch at your home often falls under "permitted development." This means you usually won't need to apply for planning permission, provided your project adheres to a few key conditions:
The external dimensions of your porch's ground floor footprint must not be larger than three square metres.
At its highest point, your porch cannot extend more than three metres above the ground. When you measure this height, use the same method you would for a house extension.
You must ensure that no section of your porch is closer than two metres to any edge of your property that borders a public road.
